Kayak Races / Carreras de Kayak
The steepest section of the Upper Puesco will be the stage for the world’s best kayakers in this extreme slalom race on the morning of Saturday November 22nd. The birthplace of the Trankurra River, Tres Troncos is renowned for its blend of power, gradient and demanding technical moves, and proposed hydroelectric projects put this very section of whitewater at risk. It was considered to be one of the most challenging courses of the 2012 White Water Grand Prix. The Tres Troncos SuperSlalom will be an AWP Tier 2 qualifier for the next Grand Prix.
This will be a timed individual event where participants will be forced to “make gates” while navigating this Class V rapid as fast as they possibly can.
All athletes who wish to participate in this event must attend an obligatory safety meeting and practice session to be held at 5:00pm on Friday November 21st at Tres Troncos.
Class Fun Sprint
We know that a river doesn’t have to be extreme to be fun. The continuous but friendly rapids next to the central event site will be the stage for this open race, accessible to all boaters comfortable in Class II-III whitewater. Imagine live music vibrating through the valley and a crowd cheering you on as you charge below the peaks of the Cerro de Las Peinetas to the finish line.
Although there is no fee/charge to participate in these events, all athletes must pre-register with an email to firstname.lastname@example.org by Monday November 17th, 2014. Please include in the subject your name and the event(s) you wish to race: “Tres Troncos Super Slalom” / “Class Fun Sprint”
